Critic's Reviews

Critic's Pick:

Up a few steps from the open kitchen, the dining area ”with its suspended ceiling, bank seating and mismatched tablecloths” gives the impression of a church basement. A gallery of compelling framed photographs provides elegant contrast. The menu changes frequently and ranges far and wide, though dishes show some Mediterranean influences.

Critic's Pick: NNNN

Leslieville's best-kept secret ain't so invisible any more now that it's finally been discovered by the mainstream...Owner/chef Levesque's lineup has a retro feel, too, updating classic comfort food with a contemporary Asian spin using veggies from his own garden.

Suggested Plates

On the Menu:

The smoky sweetness of toasted cumin"pomegranate marinade permeates Cornish hen's crisp skin and moist flesh. Marbled and full-flavoured, pan-seared rib steak is trimmed but not stripped of fat; mushrooms and garlicky sauted spinach make a fine match to the dish. The helpful, well-organized wine list invites experimentation.

Recommended Plates:

while the menu changes monthly, envisage starters like Levesque's signature "big" salad of organic greens topped with tapenade croutons in red wine/tarragon/wildflower honey vinaigrette
