Critic's Reviews

Zagat Rating: F: - D:- S: -

this Bloor-Yorkville Italian focuses on tapaslike tasting plates in a dramatic room filled with texture

                by: Zagat Survey 2006-2007

Critic's Pick:

Charlie Chaplin loops flicker on the wall, the young and the restless lounge on exotic settees in the ground floor bar, and two statues of Thai goddesses project their busts over the action. Where's the food? It's on the mezzanine, a romantic runway dominating the hijinks. The cuisine reads Italian, with razzle-dazzle.

Suggested Plates

On the Menu:

Warm, grilled radicchio and endive remain pleasingly bitter under creamy but controlled gorgonzola dressing. Smoky duck breast over braised endive sports a genial integration of orange and meat jus. Attentive servers suggest three tasting portions per person, but the final largish portions arrive on the same plate, meaning no chance to savour, individually, delicious saffron-seafood risotto or rich gnocchi. No need to ponder post-prandial liqueurs: they come with many of the 17 gelato offerings, like sambuca drenching coffee ice cream with espresso bean–caramel brittle.
